Make Hay While The Sun Shines

A bit ago, Anna and got a whole new farm girl experience...  Every time before, Anna and I had to do no work for our horse's hay - Grandpa delivered it and Daddy stacked it, but this year Anna and I had a hand in it too, and I learned how much work Daddy does for these horses he doesn't even really like!



While Grandpa worked the baler and Daddy threw the bales up onto the trailer, Anna and I took turns putting along on the clutch tractor and stacking the hay on the trailer.  Those couple of days were actually very fun - how sweet to lay high up on the hay stack under a bright blue sky, breathing in deeply the wonderful smell of fresh cut hay!  But not to say the sight of my Grandma's house and the thought of hot pizza was not welcome at 8:30pm when we finally came in from the fields!  We got very hot, dirty, and tired! :)  The horses better appreciate they're barn full of food!

Now I know more of what goes on when I look at the picture of my great-Grandpa haying - but he also had the trouble to work with horses and not so fine machinery!

Well, that was a really neat experience, and I'll do it again... next year.

She Is Here!!

After what seemed like months of seaching (although, Mom deserves all the credit for doing it for me - I just had to try to wait patiently) I finally have a little gray kitten!!!

She was welcomed into our home on July 11th 2011, at 8 weeks and 1 day old.  And she is just the sweetest, cutest thing - since five years ago, when Inky was a kitten, I have forgotten how tiny and fun kittens are!!  I am in love! :D

The adjustment to her new home has been very good.  And the adjustment to the other animals as been slow but steady - they all should be fine friends soon... hopefully!

Now I just need to find the perfect name - a very difficult choice!  But I know I want something biblical or in Hebrew - here is my list so far...

Shiloh (his gift)

Tikva (hope)

Flowers, Fireworks, & Bears, Oh My!

First off, I was going to post about old-time school, but it is such old news now, so I will skip it.  But it was one of the best old-time school weeks of old-time school weeks!  I was a TA (teacher's assistant) for my third time, and I was able to really develop a great relationship with all the young kids!!  All of them were coming up to me with a "Miss Amber, can you help me..", and it was just a great experience - I am still dreaming about the time when I can be a teacher there!!  Mom did post some pictures.

Now, not quite so long ago we went to the flower conservatory and zoo.  It gave us some good flower pictures and to be able to see some animals that are not regulars around here!

This is The Corpse flower.  It is named so because when it opens there is a beautiful flower, but a awful smell like rotting flesh. :P  It would have been nice to see what it looked like when opened, but not to smell it!

Also, I hope everyone's 4th was wonderful!  We had a great time at our Grandparent's for dinner, but our poor little cousin was sick, and so we couldn't play with him. :(  Instead we got extra four wheeling time!  Then after that we went to watch fireworks.  We usually watch them in town, but then it takes oh so long to get out!  So we tried a different spot that worked out really good!  The fireworks were a little more distant, and the place wasn't sprayed for mosquitoes, but it only took us ten minutes to get home!!!  A big bonus!

My "Garden" Tea Party

Last week I hosted a supposed to be Garden Tea Party.  But sadly, the weather did not work out and it had to be changed to just a "tea party" (praise the Lord for a large dining room that has held more than one party of 12 girls).  But weather can not hold down the spirits of girly-girls and I think it came off pretty well!

Preparations were many, but with much planning and note taking, never was a day overly busy.  Thank you bunches Mommy & Anna for helping out SO much - I hardly had to do any cleaning of the house!!

The reason I could only invite 12 young ladies is because we only had 12 tea plates!  It's always hard to leave some friends out, hopefully someday all my friends will atleast be invited to one!

1/2 Cup of Judges 4:19

2 1/4 Cups of Leviticus 6:15

1 Tablespoon of Amos 4:5

2 Teaspoons of 2 Chronicles 9:9

A Pinch of Leviticus 2:13

1 1/2 Cups of 1 Samuel 30:12

1 Cup of Numbers 13:23

1/2 Cup Numbers 17:8

Apply Proverbs 23:14 to it and bake at 350 degrees

 for 50 minutes in greased and floured loaf pan.

Shalom Everyone!!

I don't like it when I wait to long to post again, and then have more than one subject to talk about.  But that is what has happened, and I will combine it anyways.

April 26th - chick day

We got five Bard Rock chicks.  This is a recent picture of their first outing - they weren't so sure about the grass tickling them! :)

April 29th - The Johnsons move in

It has been SO nice to be able to see them more often.  This is some of us playing tennis across the street (I am behind the camera and Emily was inside with a cold).  Their house is the farthest one to the right.

May 8th - Mother's Day

We don't do much for the day, but we have started a tradition of having a tea party.  So Anna and I hosted the 2nd annual Mother's Day Tea.  The menu this year:

May 11th - the big gardening day





Every year we plant a pretty good sized garden, and yesterday was the day to start that again.  It was so wonderful to have the weather in the beautiful 70's or even getting to 80, and the work went right quickly.  Any chore outside is so much more pleasant than the inside ones! 

Every day occurance:

Elsa does not relize how big she is and that most dogs her size are not lap dogs!! :)

Crafties

Welcome!

I thought I would post a few pictures of the crafts I have been busy with lately.

First off, cards.  When Alison gave us a whole slew of stamps, I was very excited to see the cute little Hunca Munca and "The End" stamp!  So I had to make stationary too!

I have also been playing with Shrink Art Jewlery.  The necklace on the right is the Hebrew letter Shin, the first letter in the word Shalom (hello or peace).

And, after thinking about it for years, finally learning to pearl, and two rip outs...

my knitted bag!  It is felted (making the yarn shrink by putting it in the washer and dryer).  And then the yarn is so tight that I could just cut out the handle without it unraveling!  And I like it very much, I just don't put anything to heavy in it.
